Here is a rare and excpetional collectible System Route Map for Southern Airways, circa 1966. On one side of this remarkable bit of airline memorabilia and history is a full color systemwide route map that spreads as far South as New Orleans, West to Monroe, Louisiana; East as far as Myrtle Beach, North Carolina, and as far North as Nasville and Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City, Tennessee.
On the reverse side of this 20" by 18" route map, when fully opened, is a magnificent look at Southern Airways of the day and a glimpse at the "Heartland of the South". Included is a description of Southern's Martin 404 "Aristocrat" and how it is replacing the DC-3, plus an introduction to the DC-9 Fanjet that "will be making an appearance in early 1967 and will bring a new experience in flight to the South for the very first time", not to mention other fun details about Southern Flight crews and "Southern Hosptitality" service.
