Product Description

"Santa Fe Chief was taken from an illuminated tail drum emblem on the Santa Fe Railroad's 'name' train which ran between Chicago and Los Angeles from 1926 until 1968. The tail drum was donated to the Chicago Historical Society by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway in 1973 and can been seen in the Chicago History Galleries!"

We are pleased to offer you this beautiful authentic reproduction of an Santa Fe Chief Railroad vintage logo advertising sign.

This 10" diameter enameled sign is created using the same process popularized in the early 1900's. The colors are not applied as paint, instead they are finely ground glass crystals which, when kiln fired at 1350 degrees F, fuse to a heavy steel plate. Each color is applied and fired separately, creating a durable, lustrous and rust resistant product. The resulting high quality and excellent craftsmanship assures this item will also make the perfect Christmas or Hanukkah gift for that special Train or Railroad enthusiasts as well as Railroadiana memorabilia collectors!
